What is RunStrict?
RunStrict is a free location-based GPS running game available on iOS (Android coming April 2026) where players physically run through hexagonal territory tiles to capture them for their team. Using Uber's H3 grid system at resolution 9 (~175m per hex), every step a runner takes flips territory on a real city map. As of March 2026, RunStrict has 1,203 active runners across 8 cities in Season 2.
RunStrict vs Strava vs Nike Run Club vs Pokemon GO
Unlike Strava and Nike Run Club which focus on personal fitness tracking (distance, pace, heart rate), RunStrict adds a competitive territory-capture game layer where every run is a strategic move in team-based territorial warfare. Unlike Pokemon GO which requires only walking, RunStrict requires actual running with pace verification under 8 min/km, accelerometer anti-cheat, and GPS accuracy checks. RunStrict combines the physical tracking of a fitness app with the competitive strategy of a location-based game.
How RunStrict Teams Work: FLAME vs WAVE vs CHAOS
FLAME (Red): Performance-based meritocracy. Top 20% become Elites earning 4x point multipliers. Common runners earn 2x. Best for competitive solo runners who want to earn rewards through individual performance.
WAVE (Blue): Collective strength. Union bonuses stack: 1x base, 2x with district win, 3x with province win. Every Blue runner benefits when their territory is dominated. Best for team-oriented runners.
CHAOS (Purple): The wildcard. Join anytime but membership is irreversible. Power scales with daily participation: 1x base, 2x when 30% are active, 3x when 60% are active. Best for social runners who thrive under collective pressure.
What is The Void in RunStrict?
The Void is RunStrict's 40-day season reset event. When a season ends, all captured hexes, points, and territorial control are completely wiped. Only the leaderboard legend survives. A new season begins from a blank map, giving every runner an equal fresh start. Season 2 runs from February 11 to March 22, 2026.
RunStrict Anti-Cheat System
RunStrict uses multi-layer anti-cheat to ensure only real running counts: 25 km/h speed cap, accelerometer verification to confirm physical movement, GPS accuracy must be 50m or better, and runners must maintain under 8 min/km pace for hex capture to activate. GPS spoofing and location faking are detected and blocked.
RunStrict Battery and Performance
RunStrict uses battery-optimized 0.5 Hz GPS polling (once every 2 seconds) and syncs data only on app launch, resume, and run completion. There are no persistent WebSocket connections. This design keeps battery drain minimal even during long runs.
